Unless you understand Genesis 6 you will not understand much of the Old Testament, much of the New Testament and will have a prophetic blind spot. Sons of God is translated from the Hebrew words Bene HaElohim and always refer to angels.
Daughters on Men - benoth adam = daughters of Adam. The text refers to the daughters of Adam, not the daughters of Cain or some other subset.
Nephilim is translated as "giants" in the KJV Bible. The Nephilim were the result of the unnatural union between sons of God and daughters of men. Fallen angels were the parent and the Nephilim were the offspring. Notice the offspring were males "mighty men" and "men of renown."
Nephilim in Hebrew means the "fallen ones." It comes from the Hebrew verb Nephal which means to fall, be cast down to fall away, desert. HaGibborim means the mighty ones, the men or renown.
There is another popular theory for who the sons of God are. It is called the "Line of Seth View."
Summary of the Line of Seth View:
- "Sons of God" really refers to the Sethite Leadership?
- "Daughters of Adam" really refers to the Daughters of Cain
- Sin is the Failure to maintain separation
- No good definition of Nephilim in this view
Problems with this View:
- "Sons of God" never used for believers in Old Testament
- Seth was not God, Cain was not Adam (must change what God's Word says)
- No mention of Daughters of Elohinm
- Grammatical Antithesis ignored Psalm 81:1-7
